Our Lady of Vietnam's Parish exists to unify into a Christian community all Catholics residing in the Washington area of Maryland; we respond under the impulse of the Spirit to the call of the Father through our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ; we keep the image of Our Lady of Vietnam before us a model of the life of faith.  In order to establish Christ's kingdom on earth:

• We gather in community to joyfully celebrate God's  presence among us in liturgical worship and in all of his sacramental power;
  

• We proclaim with evangelical spirit the Good News of Christ both to ourselves and to those of the outer community, sharing familial love with those of other credal communities;    
  

• We reach out the hand of the Lord to the sick and the elderly among us;    
  

• We act as stewards in enjoying and maintaining the good things which God has bestowed upon us, especially those things which remind us of the pilgrimage of out forebears in the faith;    
  

• We see in our youth the Church of today as it grows toward the fully alive

  discipleship of tomorrow, and we foster this vision within them;    
  

• We bring "glad tidings to the poor, and proclaim liberty to captives" [Lk 4:18], knowing full well that we are a spirit incarnate and cannot bring God's goodness to the spirit without bringing that goodness to the body as well;    
  

• We especially proclaim the goodness of family love, where parents are the first teachers of their children in the ways of faith;    
  

• We seek the eternal Wisdom of God in an ongoing effort to scatter the darkness of ignorance with the light of Christ, and we strive to enjoy all human knowledge with the caring truth of God;    
  

• And, lastly, while we struggle to bring the full triumph of Christ to this world which is not yet heaven on earth, we search out means to celebrate God's accomplished victory and our share in it.
